What is Gastric Decompression?
Gastric decompression is the removal of gas, fluid, or stomach contents when the stomach is distended or unable to empty normally. The AMT G-Tube with Enhanced Decompression is purpose-built for stomach decompression, medication delivery, and feeding. The tube features a large port for suction/fluids and a smaller vent port that is intended to equalize pressure with the stomach, therefore reducing mucosal damage and reflux by allowing air in. Its design supports both removing gastric contents and providing nutrition/medication delivery.
Decompression may help:
-
Relieve abdominal discomfort and distention
-
Reduce nausea and vomiting
-
Lower the risk of aspiration
-
Support recovery following abdominal or GI surgery
